marriage: week four

Things I learned in our fourth week of marriage:

-Peeling wallpaper is kind of like a zen garden

Week Four Challenge: start work on the "wallpaper walls"

This week's challenge requires some explanation. I love our house.  I'm obsessed with The Burrow.  There are literally only two things I don't like about it: the kitchen cabinets, and these super weird wallpaper walls.  I'm not sure if you can tell from the pictures, but basically this is metallic wallpaper hodge-podged/ripped and glued onto the wall.  It's on three walls in our house: two in the kitchen (pictured below) and one in the downstairs bathroom.  I think it's supposed to look Tuscan, but it looks more like something that would be in Scarface's house, or maybe the Olive Garden (in 1990).  I knew Luke did not want to start this project...but he pulled it out of the challenge jar! The only rules of the challenge jar are that you get three put-backs (save-for-laters) and you must do whatever you draw out (if you don't exercise your right to a put-back).  Luke did not opt to use one of his put-backs.  For this challenge, all we had to do was start the project.  Here's what has happened so far:

One day, I just started peeling it.

Why?

One wall clean!

Week Four Highlights: Aaron + Jen's wedding/seeing so much family, our bed came (but has broken pieces and has to be sent back...but the part that works looks awesome!)

Here's a bonus wedding picture!
